Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom Teeth Removal

At Dental Emporium we do minor oral surgeries including the removal of wisdom teeth. These procedures can be done in the dental chair in the practice or during general anaesthetic. It should only take a few days for you to heal and feel back to normal.

Wisdom teeth are a third set of molars in the back of your mouth. They usually come in between the ages of 17 and 25, and they’re spotted on X-rays. Most people have them removed for one of these reasons:

  • They’re impacted

  • They come in at the wrong angle
  • Your mouth isn’t big enough
  • You have cavities or gum disease

Before Surgery

You’ll meet with your dentist to discuss the process.

Wisdom teeth are the most commonly missing teeth in adult mouths. You’re also more likely to have issues with these molars than with any other teeth.

  • Discuss what type of anesthesia you’ll have. You can either be numb or asleep during your surgery.

  • Plan time off from work or school to have your surgery and rest afterward at home.

During Surgery

Your surgery should take approximately 45 minutes.

You’ll get one of these types of anaesthesia so you don’t feel pain during the removal:

  • Local: Your dentist will numb your mouth with an injection. You should feel alert again shortly afterward.
  • IV sedation: The surgeon will numb your mouth and also give you drugs through a vein in your arm to make you drowsy. You might sleep during the whole procedure

“Excellent service from highly skilled professionals. Excels at making nervous patients feel at ease, and very good with kids.

Would recommend them in a heartbeat”.
